A plugin switched off
Joue switches a plugin off when it keeps failing, so it can’t stop the rest of the show. Everything else plays on.
What you’ll see
Section titled “What you’ll see”In Live Mode, a red pill in the header names the channel, such as Strings Pad is off. Hover over it to see why. On the key map, that channel’s bar turns dark red.
In Edit mode, the channel’s state in Channels reads Switched off, with a red dot.
Why it happens
Section titled “Why it happens”Each plugin has to finish its share of the sound in time for every buffer. If it misses that deadline five times in a row, Joue restarts it, which takes under a second. If it’s too slow again, Joue switches it off. A plugin that crashes is handled the same way.
The usual reasons are a buffer size too small for that plugin, or something else on the Mac keeping it busy.
What to do
Section titled “What to do”- Go to Channels (⌘2) and select the channel. Its history shows when it was restarted and when it was switched off.
- Try a larger buffer size in Settings › Audio. The headroom shown for each size is measured on your show.
- Quit anything else that’s working hard, such as another music app.
- Choose Try Again. The plugin loads, and the channel plays as soon as it’s ready.
Next time the show opens, Joue loads the plugin as normal. If it stops the show opening at all, use safe mode.
